Migraine Quiz

Gastrointestinal

One of the major neurotransmitters of migraine is a brain chemical called serotonin. But did you know that less than 5% of your body's total serotonin is in your brain? Most of it is actually in the gastrointestinal tract. It should probably be no surprise that there are gastrointestinal disorders associated with migraine.

There are several gastrointestinal disorders that occur more commonly in migraine sufferers.  These include:

  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • celiac disease
  • gluten sensitivity
